365 Day Photo Challenge – Day 195

Baby banana bud with a bug grazing.

This is the bud of a very young banana tree. I was actually surprised to see a bud on it when it was still so small – about 2 feet tall. The bug which is grazing on it is one that I see quite often here in Panama. They look like a type of fly, but their legs hang like a wasp when it flies. They also love our mint plant! He was enjoying his snack from this banana bloom and I’m sure was not impressed at my presence. I still don’t know if these guys bite, so didn’t push the envelope ;-).

  1. Nice close up!
I like how the color of the background makes everything stand out.
    Great shot Denise.
