365 Day Photo Challenge – Day 121

Panama Hats

This is a street vendor of classic Panamanian hats in Penenome, Panama. I’m told that the ‘Panama Jack’ hats are not actually from Panama, and that the ones viewed here are the real Panamanian ones. Go figure! The hat brims are flipped up according to the mood of the person wearing it. They range from $25 up to hundreds, based on how tight the weave is, details, etc. The ones along the top row in the photo are the most common and inexpensive ones. There are few ‘souvenirs’ to be found in Panama, but these hats do make wonderful ones!
