Today I went over to my friend Judi’s to catch up. I took my camera with me because I remembered a really interesting, non-edible fruit that is hanging from a tree near their pool. When I arrived she explained they had just experienced a ‘fruit-explosion’, in that the fruit that I was going to photograph exploded this morning. I checked it out, and there were these sections that looked like ‘candy corn’ laying on the ground, with the top half of the fruit still intact and hanging in the tree. Her groundskeeper insists that the fruit is not edible, which is very rare in Panama. There is such an abundance of food growing on trees and in the ground one could probably survive on just that alone here!
This is a view from below, showing the inside of the fruit.
This is a view of the remaining half of the fruit.
