One of the things I truly love about living in Panama is the abundance of fresh fruit. Not only the bananas, (which you can often buy a whole entire branch of for a dollar or two), and pineapples, but the ones us Canadians aren’t so familiar with – like the maracuyá (aka passionfruit). The inside of a maracuyá is similar to that of a pomegranate in that it has edible seeds with juicy flesh surrounding them. The tangy juice is amazing! Some people take a spoon, scoop out the flesh, juice and seeds and devour them just like that! I prefer to put it in the blender with ice and maybe a little yogurt for a morning smoothie – delicious!
