Back in Canada I always considered myself having a ‘brown thumb’, either over-watering or under-watering my plants until they died – and that generally did not take long.
My hibiscus plants give me great happiness, blooming every few days. LOVE them! The newest addition to our garden is a banana tree. A friend brought over 2 pieces that were planted under the soil, telling us this would soon become a banana tree. We after about a month, what you see in the photo is the start to our banana tree. Being Canadian, we are not accustomed to having certain fruit growing in our yards (other than maybe apples or cherries). But bananas, lemons, limes, mangoes, and cashew fruit trees are a real novelty for us. There is a large mango tree in our front yard, and a cashew fruit tree in the back yard. These were here – and full grown when we arrived here. I’m not sure how long it will take for this little guy to grow big enough to bear fruit, but I can’t wait to see our first bananas!
